Make it a conversation, not a speech

A story prompt tells the AI what to play; it does not need to provide every spoken line. Give the recipient a choice and let their answer change the next beat. “Would my fern prefer jazz or techno?” is easier to engage with than a five-minute explanation of your new imaginary business.

Use your own voice when the humor depends on a familiar person being unusually earnest. A ready-made character voice works when the situation itself carries the joke. Start with Natural delivery; a strange premise rarely needs every sentence shouted.

Everyday problems, unnecessarily elaborate solutions

1. The houseplant DJ

Tell my friend I’m choosing music for my houseplants. Ask whether the fern prefers jazz or techno. Follow their advice, propose a stage name for the fern, then reveal the joke.

2. The dramatic dinner menu

Ask my sibling to help name tonight’s ordinary dinner as if it were a fancy restaurant dish. The dish is toast. Consider their suggestion seriously, make the menu one notch more ridiculous, then reveal the joke.

3. The sock filing system

Tell my friend I’m reorganizing socks by emotional energy instead of color. Ask where a tired striped sock belongs. Invent one silly category based on their answer, then reveal the joke.

4. The weather committee

Ask my parent to help me write a polite review of today’s weather. Discuss whether the clouds deserve three or four stars. Suggest one improvement the clouds should make, then reveal the joke.

These work well with a relative who enjoys helping with small decisions. Keep the object specific: toast is funnier than “a meal,” and one striped sock gives the other person more to picture than an abstract organizational problem.

Pets and plants with suspiciously ambitious careers

5. The pet job interview

I’m helping my pet prepare for an imaginary job interview. Ask my friend which skill belongs on the résumé: napping or looking busy. Practice one short interview answer, then reveal the joke.

6. The motivational fern

Ask my sibling what motivational phrase I should say to my fern each morning. Treat the fern like an athlete preparing for a big event. Try their phrase with gentle enthusiasm, then reveal the joke.

7. The dog podcast

Tell my friend I’m naming an imaginary podcast hosted by my dog. Ask for a title and a first episode topic. Build on their suggestion with one silly guest idea, then reveal the joke.

8. The cat performance review

Ask my parent how to phrase a friendly annual performance review for my cat. Praise excellent sunbeam attendance and discuss unreliable response to emails. Ask for one improvement goal, then reveal the joke.

Use a pet the person actually knows, but leave private details out of the prompt. One familiar quirk is enough. The AI can stay on the shared character without needing someone’s address, schedule, or personal information.

New hobbies that may need a second opinion

9. The competitive napping coach

Tell my friend I’m planning an imaginary competitive napping team. Ask them to choose our team name and suggest a warm-up exercise. Take their ideas seriously for one follow-up, then reveal the joke.

10. The refrigerator museum

Ask my sibling which item in my refrigerator deserves to be the centerpiece of an imaginary museum. Discuss a dramatic exhibit title for a jar of pickles. Invite one suggestion, then reveal the joke.

11. The reverse tech-support call

Ask the family tech expert for advice about a perfectly functioning lamp. Explain that the lamp turns on, which seems almost too efficient. Accept their explanation, ask one silly follow-up, then reveal the joke.

12. The tiny parade

Ask my friend to help plan an imaginary parade across the kitchen counter. We have three spoons and a very small audience. Ask what the grand finale should be, build on their answer, then reveal the joke.

The recipient should be able to answer without doing anything outside the call. Avoid errands, transactions, or tasks that leave them trying to solve a problem after the joke has ended. The imaginary refrigerator museum can close with a laugh.

Personalize one detail, then leave room for their reply

Choose the idea that matches the person’s sense of humor. A cooking enthusiast may enjoy the dramatic toast menu. Someone who loves your cat may have very strong opinions about its performance review. Change one noun, not the entire story.

  • Keep one central premise.
  • Ask a question with an easy answer.
  • Let the AI follow the answer instead of repeating the setup.
  • Use a short reveal before the story becomes a chore.
  • Ask separately before saving or sharing a recording.

For a first attempt, aim for a short conversation. You can paste a prompt into PRENK, select a voice, and preview it before calling. The first minute is free, so a setup with one good follow-up is a practical place to start.
